Dear Gilbert High School Community,

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as your new Principal, Lucas Blackburn. I am honored to join such a fantastic school and to serve the students, faculty, and families of Gilbert High.

With over two decades of experience in education, I come to Gilbert High with a passion for fostering academic excellence and creating a supportive learning environment. For the past 11 years, I have had the privilege of serving as the Principal of Patterson Elementary, where I worked alongside dedicated educators to ensure every child reached their fullest potential. Prior to my time at Patterson, I spent a decade in various roles at the secondary level, honing my skills and gaining invaluable insights into the needs of students as they progress through their educational journey.

As a proud parent of two wonderful children, Liam and Kellan, I understand the importance of providing a safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. I am particularly thrilled to announce that Kellan will soon be joining the Tiger family, adding an extra layer of personal investment in the success of our school community.

Originally hailing from the great state of Michigan, I bring with me a strong Midwestern work ethic and a commitment to excellence in all that I do. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and my Master's degree from Northern Arizona University, where I further developed my skills and passion for educational leadership.

Beyond the classroom, I am an avid proponent of staying active and enjoying the outdoors. Whether it's hiking through Arizona or embarking on new adventures with my wife Stacie and my boys, I believe in the importance of fostering a healthy work-life balance.

I am eager to collaborate with each of you to continue Gilbert High's tradition of excellence and to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. Together, I am confident that we will achieve great things.
