Gilbert Public Schools held a Gilbert Public Schools Regular Business Board Meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The meeting began at 6:00 pm and was held in the Governing Board Business Meeting.

  • All board members were present, and the agenda was approved as outlined without modification.
  • The Superintendent’s Report followed, delivered by Superintendent Dr. Jared Ryan.
    • New Teacher Kickoff: Welcomed nearly 160 new certified staff members at Desert Ridge High School during the annual kickoff event.
    • Administrative Recognition: Recognized three community leaders and organizations for their exemplary service:
      • Jane Vela (Landings Credit Union)
      • Jon Moton (Central Christian Church)
      • Eric Benson (Benson Systems)
    • Condolences: Shared news of the sad passing of Amy Williams, a 20-year veteran teacher who served at Desert Ridge Junior High and South Valley Junior High.
    • School Start: Noted that the school year officially begins on July 28, 2026, welcoming over 30,000 students across 38 campuses.
  • The Monthly Financial Report (Fiscal Year 2026 Year-End) was presented by Crystal Zachary, Assistant Superintendent, Business Services.
  • The Consent Agenda was approved with a 5-0 vote.
  • Board Member Jill Humphreys shared updates on upcoming Gilbert Education Foundation fundraising events.
