Metals Jewelry Instructor
Students in Metals Jewelry I-IV learn, design, and make to develop mastery of fabrication and casting. Techniques learned are: Basic Silversmithing, cold connections, soldering and advanced soldering, stone setting, chain making, lost wax casting, and alternative casting skills. Students learn AP Studio Art 3-D Design students create a body of work through independent research.This body of work demonstrates quality and originality through a breadth of knowledge and concentration on a specific topic in jewelry making.
My name is Shalei Webb and I am the Metals Jewelry Instructor and Visual Arts Department Head here at Gilbert High School. I am a graduate, class of 1993, from Herron School of Art, Indiana University. My focus of study has primarily been in art education, with a concentration on 3-D art, ceramics, and accessories. This is my 10th year at Gilbert High School and my 23rd year as a public school art educator. I am proud to be part of the faculty at GHS where tradition and excellence is part of our culture.
