Welcome to Lab Biology!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Lab Biology. We will be studying a variety of topics in Lab Biology. Topics of study will include, but are not limited to, the scientific method, ecology and environmental issues, biochemistry, the cell, organization of living systems, the role of energy in living systems, genetics, evolution, the five kingdoms of life, and human systems. We will study these things through participation in lab experiments, hands-on activities, research, and discussions. I have attached a Course Syllabus that outlines the amount of time we will spend in each unit and any major assignments relating to that unit.
Welcome to Marine Biology!
Oceans are the last unexplored frontier on Earth. Scientists estimate that only 5% of the ocean world has been visited and studied. At the same time, concern about the future well-being of the oceans is at an all time high. Depleted fisheries, pollution, and the ocean’s role in climate change, for example, are big topics being actively debated in our scientific and political arenas.
This course is intended to explore the major physical and biological processes and phenomena of our oceans. The fall semester course material will focus on physical matters and the spring semester will focus on the biological life in our oceans and issues in marine science.
I graduated from Arizona State University in 2005 with a degree in Secondary Education with a specialization in Biological Sciences. I have been teaching at Gilbert High School since then!
