Tiger Town 2018-2019    Tiger Town Full Camp

Tiger Town

Gilbert High School’s Tiger Town is a space on campus that fosters skills in leadership and promotes diversity.  The club allows students to make presentations, share ideas, and involve themselves with other students at Gilbert High.  We also facilitate community service activities and hold a partnership with Patterson Elementary with Patterson Pals.  Our annual Tiger Town camp takes place in October of every year; it provides a space for students to embrace their own individuality, become skilled in leadership, and make strong connections with their fellow Gilbert High Students.  Tiger Town strives to better the Gilbert High community through promoting positive leadership skills, creating a space for connection, and encouraging empathetic and positive action.

No Place for Hate, Be the Change, Stomp
No Place for Hate | Anti-Defamation League (ADL)

No Place for Hate is a program created by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) that has been used by Gilbert Public Schools.  The purpose of this program is to help emphasize the importance of being respectful and kind to all people. In today’s ever-changing and diverse world, our students need to learn how to interact positively with, and be respectful of all people so they can be successful after they graduate from our schools.  Np Place for Hate does not teach anyone what they should think or believe; the purpose behind the program is to help create a community where all students are treated with dignity and where they feel safe, able to learn, and able to be their best self!

The ADL and the site coordinators train 10th through 12th grade students to be Peer Trainers and then those Peer Trainers facilitate the activities with the 9th graders in their Lab Biology classes, with the classroom teacher present. The Peer Trainers visit these classes six times over the course of the first semester.

There are a variety of activities that have been tested and approved by the ADL for use with high school students. Peer Trainers have a manual with specific lesson plans that guide the facilitation of each activity.
